Dear leader,
''Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you
are... for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants
forever... And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that
is a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could
be numbered..''
The vision given to a man named Abram by God (Gen 13:14-17).
And what a vision; your descendant will be as the dust of the earth. How can
you count the dust of the earth - uncountable! This is a vision to a man over eighty years of age without a child; his wife has long past menopause. How
would this be possible?
In leadership, we know how important vision is, in fact we
are told by many leadership gurus to 'have a vision'. What is vision anyway?
From the statement above, my simple definition is that vision is seeing the
future; of something, someone or a place.
The process of visioning as we been thought by management
and leadership gurus is that you have a dream, or you put together a group of
people to craft the vision and pronto you have a vision ''A world without
poverty'' is the vision of an International NGO. But where does this vision
come from?
Many successful people would tell you they had a dream, they
had a burning desire, they were driven by this passion inside them; all of
which is wonderful. Man has been given the ability to dream and many have made
their dreams become a reality.
Yet, no man-made vision can ever be as wonderful as a God
inspired vision; this is always so big and seems so impossible that when it does
come to be, people would know this is more than the effort of any man.
Leaders who desire to stand above the crowd in all areas of life must crave for a
God given vision not only for their lives, but for any organisation that they lead.
The process is very simple; ask God.
''I always prayed that God would give me the wisdom and the vision to do the things on this earth that I was supposed to do to express His life and love and His will'' - Billy Ray Cyrus
