In a previous organisation I worked for, there was a driver, who was one of the longest serving member of staff. Let's call him driver A. I worked with him for about seven years and during that time he never had a vehicle accident, always polite and respectful to everyone.
During my time as head of business services we employed another driver. Within six months the new driver had three accidents. Staff members started requesting for driver A anytime they need transportation for official duties. They said they feel safe and secure when he drives them; they trusted his driving skill and are confident he would get them to their destination safely.
Driver A had a follower ship in the organisation, from the most senior to junior staff. He was influencing peoples' ability to do their job. Driver A was a leader in his area of work. He demonstrated the right attitude, quality of work and diligence that impact other people in a positive way. Leadership is not more complicated than that!
King David was one of the greatest leaders that ever lived. A man after God's heart. God brought him from being a Shepherd of sheep to being the shepherd of His precious people, the Israelites. He shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands (Psalm78:72).
Irrespective of your role, you are a leader by the content of your character and the quality of your work.
Be the light of your world!
